Gaston. Renovation of a 19th-century apartment

The apartment is located on the 9th floor of a high-rise building (IGH) in the Front de Seine area of Paris (15), in the
Beaugrenelle neighborhood. The owners, a retired couple, have lived there throughout their adult lives.
The project aimed to refresh the existing space while respecting their established habits, creating a refreshed living environment tailored to their future needs.

The main objective was to completely renovate the northeast-facing apartment, enhancing natural light and integrating most of the existing valuable furniture. The project began with a vision to create a sequence of horizontal spaces directed toward the large wooden bay window, interconnected by visual openings or glass partitions. At the same time, each area—studio, kitchen, and living room—maintains its individuality and ample circulation. Special attention was given to detailing elements of the bay window, the blackout curtain system, and the wall-mounted picture rails.

A photographic survey of the existing layout was commissioned to photographer Samy Brillaud to document the space's original arrangement, preserving the essence of a design that had long been part of the residents' lives before the new renovation.
